Garden enthusiasts will not want to miss the famous Lost Gardens of Heligan, approx 17 miles, recently restored by Tim Smit, and highly successful millennium Eden Project approx 10 miles.

Lanhydrock House (National Trust) 5 miles and award winning Pencarrow House 1 mile are both well worth a visit for those interested in history. Both hold outdoor events throughout the season.

Of interest to children

The Shire horse centre only 7 miles and Cornish birds of prey 6 miles are popular with children.

Newquay the venue for the National and World surfing championships is 13 miles and offers shopping and nightlife.
Historic Truro 26 miles boasts excellent shopping facilities, Cathedral and Theatre.
