History of Costislost

Costislost has a fascinating history as part of the historic Pencarrow Estate and was once the Dower House – the property provided for the mother of the estate owner. The present farmer has lived on the property since a child, which was farmed by his father before him, and has a mixed farm of cattle and crops.

The main property is listed for its historic and architectural interest, and consists of a beautiful stone Georgian farmhouse with a grand Victorian addition featuring picture windows, huge entrance and dining halls and numerous period features.

To the front of the property are spacious lawns with a deep herbaceous border and original fountain, merging into the fields, hillside and woods beyond. To the rear is a walled courtyard garden with chairs and tables for picnics and barbeques (BBQ provided).
